We have a product for the soles of our feet, for our cuticles, under our eyes, our eyelids, skin care for men, for women, for babies, but because we dare not utter "the word", there isn't the need for Intimate Grooming™? I whole-heartedly disagree on behalf of 51% of the population. My personal mission is to get Intimate Grooming products integrated into the beauty rituals of as many women as I can, as fast as I can. Because women deserve to beautify and glorify.
I have a background in the beauty business. I own a company called Creed Strategic Imaging. We create, build, fix, reinforce brands and have had many a success for businesses on the Fortune 500 list, and some so small, you'd need a séance to find them. Clients have included Aveda, Aramis, Hard Candy, and most recently, I created Rodan & Fields™, a dermatology brand recently bought by Estee Lauder. So creating SweetSpot Labs® from inception to today is familiar territory. But that doesn't excuse why this category (Intimate Grooming) has been relegated to a problem versus a celebration. Here's how I got to where we are today:
For years I went from doctor to doctor, tried alternative therapies and subjected myself to medical procedures, including surgery, only to gain marginal relief for a chronic discomfort and a consistent diagnosis of a low-grade urinary tract infection or idiopathic irritation. "Learn to live with discomfort," was the medical resolution. "I don't think so," was mine.
As any health-conscious woman would do, I did extensive research on the organic possibilities that could be tied to my discomfort. First diet, which is relevant. Then I tapped in to my expertise in the product development world of personal care. More relieved than surprised, I discovered that I could, indeed, treat my chronic discomfort by altering my diet AND eliminating the shampoo and personal care products that contained known irritants and inappropriate pH levels. Good-bye irritation and pain!
This journey of discovery led me to my infamous questions - Do you brush your teeth with shampoo? Wash your hair with toothpaste? Of course not. But you use WHAT? On your WHERE? Why would any woman cleanse any part of her body with products not designed for that specific use. Could many women unknowingly suffer physiological consequences from the products they were using that didn’t complement their sweet spot needs? Could we do more to optimize the health and well-being of their sweet spot? Of course we could. Were there products out there? NO! The only products that addressed intimate grooming™ were relegated to the bottom shelf of stores, had graceless names, and were associated with yeast infections and other medicinal and clinical products. Is intimate grooming not intimately connected to a woman's sense of beauty? Must intimate grooming be a source of embarrassment? Why not a source of splendor?
